Himalayan Salt & Lemon Water: Start Your Day the Right Way

Updated: Dec 6

Blog post cover that reads: The Essentials. Himalayan salt and lemon water - start your day the right way. Start your mornings with a simple habit that transforms energy, hydration and overall health.

Himalayan salt and lemon water is a simple yet powerful drink to kickstart your day. Beyond just hydration, this combination supports key functions in your body, particularly nourishing your adrenal glands.

The adrenal glands are responsible for producing hormones like cortisol, adrenalin, and noradrenalin, which play a critical role in stress management and maintaining energy levels.

Cortisol, often called the “stress hormone,” also drives your energy throughout the day. Ideally, cortisol levels should peak between 6–8 am, giving you the energy to function at your best, and then taper off by evening, ensuring restful sleep. If you struggle to wake up naturally during these peak hours, it could indicate low morning cortisol.

“Hydration is the foundation of health, and a simple glass of salt and lemon water each morning can transform your energy and focus.”

The Power of Your Morning Drink

Starting your day with a glass of Himalayan salt and lemon water can help optimise your adrenal function and improve overall energy levels.

Here’s how to make it:

  • A glass of filtered water, at least 200 ml

  • Add ¼ teaspoon of Himalayan salt (or any coloured salt) to a glass of water.

  • Squeeze in the juice of half a fresh lemon or lime. Despite its acidic taste, lemon juice helps alkalise your body’s pH levels once metabolised.

This refreshing drink hydrates, balances electrolytes, and provides essential minerals, setting the tone for a productive day.

How Does It Help?

1. Adrenal Support: The minerals in Himalayan salt nourish your adrenal glands, helping regulate cortisol levels for better stress management and energy.

2. Hydration & Electrolyte Balance: This drink restores electrolytes, essential for maintaining proper hydration, especially if you’ve had a poor night’s sleep or intense training.

3. Alkalising Effect: Despite its acidic taste, lemon juice has an alkalising effect on your body’s pH, supporting digestion and reducing inflammation.

When Should You Drink It?

For best results, drink this first thing in the morning, ideally before breakfast, to hydrate and kickstart your day. Pair it with consistent sleep patterns (aiming for 6–8 hours of quality rest) and a balanced diet to feel the full benefits.
